Skills Boost is available for unemployed people living on Merseyside to help them get the training they need to secure a real job.

Skills Boost is available through Job Centre Plus (and other agencies) and is accessed when an identified job vacancy requires a person to have a particular skill to do the job.

Skills Boost will help pay for the training of the unemployed person to secure the identified job vacancy.
Typical training that can be supported could include: CORGI registration certificate, CSCS card, a home energy inspection qualification for instance.

Skills Boost is flexible to enable people to receive the most appropriate training as quickly as possible. Individual training needs are immediately identified and we will put together a costed training and action plan.
Support for childcare and travel costs are available also to help unemployed get training and get into work.
Whilst undergoing training, unemployed clients will likely be able to continue to receive their benefits from Job Centre Plus. Your Job Centre Plus will provide advice and support for individuals with regard to “in work” benefit calculations etc where appropriate.
