FREE Procurement Training - Building a Consortia workshop with Melanie Bryan, WhyNotChange
Monday 5th September 2011 - 7.30am - 11am at Riverside, Congleton
Responding to feedback from local businesses, charities and social enterprises, Cheshire East Council is keen to support and guide our businesses to better understand how to do tender for work with us and other public sector organisations.
We have run a number of training workshops aimed at helping businesses better understand the procurement processes but for some procurement contracts businesses, charities and social enterprises may wish to collaborate with other organisations to bid - this is known as a consortium.
Melanie Bryan, WhyNotChange, has personal experience of working with consortiums to win Public Sector work. Melanie created a consortium of social enterprises and charities, none of whom had previously bid for Public Sector work, after spotting an interesting national contract to be delivered in the Manchester area. She recognised that if a number of small organisations came together to bid, then winning this contract would be within their reach.
The bid was successful and work has already commenced providing each client with a new income stream. Winning this contract for a national government body has added credibility and a strong reference. This has opened up further opportunities, including for the consortium to bid together for more Public Sector contracts.
Amongst other things this workshop will cover:
- Understanding the different types of consortia including ranging from a simple lead/sub arrangement to a separate legal entity
- How to go about identifying your consortium partners
- How to work together before bidding
Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment – contact Jacqueline Wilson, Business Engagement Co-ordinator, Cheshire East Council, 01270 685911 or Jacqueline.wilson@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
Melanie has a wealth of experience of successfully winning Public Sector contracts for a diverse range of organizations. These contracts have ranged in value from a few thousand pounds to millions. Melanie has recently won the Best Social Enterprise Partnership Award and is the proud winner of the Prime Minister’s Big Society Award 2011.
