New dating business is serendipity for Oldham woman
AN Oldham woman is launching a dating service with a difference.
Simply Serendipity uses a face-to-face mentoring and matching process, which aims to offer a much stronger chance of success for those genuinely looking for love. Its two unique selling points are the added security the service brings and the matching process. Simply Serendipity sees members screened for a criminal record background check and enhanced ID verification checks. This ensures people are who they say they are. It also is the only match maker in the North West using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) training to produce an in-depth character profile.
The business was launched by 35-year-old Samantha Fisher, who was made redundant from her job in banking, before turning her hand to matching singles across Greater Manchester. Samantha meets members face-to-face and uses her NLP training and security checks to find people a suitable partner.
Once an appropriate match is found, Simply Serendipity passes the contact details to each person and – fingers crossed – a date is arranged.
Samantha, who was helped along the way by business support agency Blue Orchid, said she decided to launch the dating service after taking the NLP training.
“After I was made redundant I decided to look into some training to help further my career,” she said. “I had always had an interest in self-development and communication skills so I began studying to become a NLP practitioner. I want from being nervous speaking to small a group to standing in front of an audience of 200. I also took it one step further and completed a course in stand-up comedy!”
“I approached Blue Orchid in Oldham and was referred to a fantastic business advisor called Deena Kearney. I met with Deena over a period of six weeks to help structure my business plan and she reviewed it each week with useful comments and suggestions. She gave me a multitude of business contacts such as website designers and solicitors. She also helped me to produce a cash flow forecast for the year and this prepared me for any pitfalls I might have. My advisor has kept me self-motivated and focused on launching my business.”
With Simply Serendipity’s headquarters in Manchester city centre, Samantha is aiming to target people of all ages across Greater Manchester, before opening the dating service to different regions of the UK.
She said: “I really want Simply Serendipity to become a nationwide dating service and have plans to expand over the next year. I also offer personal coaching programmes and want to develop this as an extra service as well.”
Samantha’s support was delivered though the ISUS programme, in which Blue Orchid is the contracted provider for Oldham. It is provided by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA). ISUS is part of Solutions for Business, the Government's package of publicly funded business support designed to help companies start and grow. The programme is funded by the NWDA, European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Oldham Council.
